Robber fatally shot identified by police

Philadelphia police have identified a young Oxford Circle man as the armed robber who was shot and killed by a Tacony delicatessen owner on Feb. 5.

Timothy Casino, 19, of the 1400 block of Elbridge St., allegedly entered Anna’s Deli, 4400 Princeton Ave., at about 6 p.m., pointed a gun at the shop’s co-owner, Anna Jukic, and demanded money. But when the victim’s husband, John, emerged from a private room with a gun of his own, the shots started flying.

John Jukic wounded the intruder fatally in the chest. Casino died at the scene. The deli owners were unharmed.

John Jukic legally owned his gun and was not charged with a crime. Police have not released further information on Casino’s gun. ••
